شهد مقام العارف بالله إبراهيم الدسوقي بمدينة دسوق بكفر الشيخ توافد المئات من مريديه للاحتفال بليلة الختام، وأقيمت حلقات الذكر داخل المسجد وخارجه. حيث تغنى فيها المغنون القادمون من عدد من محافظات الصعيد والدلتا في مدح الرسول صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم.
وانتشر على الأرض عدد من الزوار للذكرى وتلاوة القرآن الكريم والتبرك في المقام. وكان هناك من يتردد على الضريح، ومن طاف به، ومنهم من لمس الحجر الذي عليه آثار أقدام الدسوقي، ومسح وجهه ورأسه للتبرك من الآثار.
يُذكر أن العارف بالله الشيخ إبراهيم الدسوقي هو أحد أقطاب التصوف الأربعة في العالم الإسلامي. ويطلق على الاحتفال في شهر مايو اسم “عيد ميلاد رجبي”، والثاني في شهر أكتوبر وهو الاحتفال الرسمي بمولده. العارف بالله إبراهيم الدسوقي هو إبراهيم بن عبد العزيز أبو المجد. سنة 653هـ، الموافق 1255م، بمدينة دسوق، وينسب إليها. وينتهي نسبه من جهة أبيه إلى الإمام الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب، وفاطمة الزهراء بنت المصطفى -صلى الله عليه وسلم-. حفظ القرآن الكريم وتعلم مذهب الإمام الشافعي وأحب الخلوة منذ صغره، ولمع نجمه في العلم والمعرفة. وانتشرت طريقته حتى وصلت شهرته إلى جميع أنحاء البلاد، إذ ترك العزلة وتفرغ لطلابه.
وأصدر السلطان الظاهر بيبرس البندقداري أمراً بتعيينه شيخاً للإسلام. فقبل المنصب ونفذ مهمته. وكان يعطي راتبه من هذا المنصب لفقراء المسلمين. كما قرر السلطان بناء زاوية يلتقي فيها الشيخ بأتباعه ويعلمهم ويرشدهم إلى أصول دينهم. وهذا هو موقع مسجده الحالي. وظل الدسوقي في منصب شيخ الإسلام حتى توفي السلطان بيبرس، ثم اعتذر ليتفرغ لتلاميذه ومريديه.
وكان معجبوه يطلقون عليه لقب برهان الدين وأبو العينين، “عين القانون وعين الحق”. وكانت له علاقات وثيقة بالسيد أحمد البدوي، وكان يتبادل الرسائل عن طريق تلاميذهما. وله مئات المعجزات الواردة في كتب كثيرة عن الدسوقي. ويعتبر القطب الرابع للتصوف بعد عبد القادر الجيلاني وأحمد الرفاعي. وأحمد البدوي .
