رئيسة جامعة هارفارد تعتذر عن تعليقات بشأن "معاداة السامية"
أصدرت رئيسة جامعة هارفارد اعتذارًا علنيًا عن التعليقات التي أدلت بها خلال جلسة استماع في الكونجرس حول “معاداة السامية في الجامعات الأمريكية”، وسط الحرب المستمرة بين إسرائيل وحماس.
وتعود تفاصيل الحادثة إلى يوم الثلاثاء، عندما سُئلت كلودين جاي، التي تتولى رئاسة جامعة هارفارد الأمريكية منذ يوليو/تموز 2023، عما إذا كانت الدعوات إلى “الإبادة الجماعية” لليهود تشكل انتهاكا لمدونة قواعد السلوك في جامعة هارفارد، فأجابت لم تحتوي على موافقة مباشرة
وقال جاي في مقابلة نشرتها يوم الجمعة صحيفة هارفارد كريمسون الطلابية بالجامعة “أنا آسف”.
وأضافت: “كان عليّ في تلك اللحظة أن أعود إلى الحقيقة التي ترشدني، وهي أن الدعوات إلى العنف ضد مجتمعنا اليهودي والتهديدات الموجهة إلى طلابنا اليهود ليس لها مكان في جامعة هارفارد، ولن تذهب سدى”. بلا منازع.”
وواجه جاي والمشاركان الآخران في الجلسة التي استمرت خمس ساعات، وهما رئيسي جامعة بنسلفانيا ومعهد ماساتشوستس للتكنولوجيا (MIT)، انتقادات حادة بسبب ردودهم على أسئلة عضوة الكونجرس الجمهورية إليز ستيفانيك.
ودعا ستيفانيك، الذي درس في جامعة هارفارد، رؤساء هذه الجامعات إلى الاستقالة، وأعلن الأربعاء أن لجنة التعليم في مجلس النواب “ستفتح تحقيقا رسميا” في الكونغرس ضد الجامعات الثلاث، “مع سلطة إصدار مذكرات استدعاء”.
وانضم الحزبان الديمقراطي والجمهوري إلى توبيخ رؤساء الجامعات الثلاث، فيما أصدر الرئيس جو بايدن بيانا اعتبر فيه أن “الدعوات إلى الإبادة الجماعية وحشية وتتناقض مع كل ما نمثله كدولة”.
واندلعت الحرب في غزة ردا على عملية شنتها حركة حماس في 7 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول في إسرائيل، وأدت إلى مقتل 1200 شخص، بينهم مئات الجنود، بحسب السلطات الإسرائيلية، واحتجزت الحركة خلالها أيضا نحو 240 رهينة في غزة.
أعلنت وزارة الصحة في غزة، اليوم الجمعة، ارتفاع حصيلة شهداء القصف الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة إلى 17487 شخصا، نحو 70% منهم نساء وأطفال.
