تحل اليوم الثلاثاء ذكرى رحيل النجم ممدوح وافي حيث رحل عن عالمنا في 17 أكتوبر 2004، وتميز بذكائه وإبداعه في تقديم العديد من الأعمال الفنية. وعرف بأنه رفيقه، إذ لم يترك النجم أحمد زكي لحظة واحدة أثناء مرضه وظل بجانبه.
بدأ مشواره الفني عام 1979 بمشاركته في عدد من المسرحيات مثل «الهمجي» و«الحمري الجمري» و«حضرة السادة العيال». أما عن أدواره السينمائية، فإن أول دور سينمائي له كان عام 1985 في فيلم “الإنس والجن”، وبعدها شارك الفنان أحمد زكي في العديد من أفلامه منها “الإمبراطور”، و”استاكوزا”، و”أبو الدهب”. و”سائق الهانم” و”السيد. الكاراتيه.”“.
ولم تتوقف مشاركة ممدوح وافي في السينما والمسرح فقط. قدم العديد من الأعمال التليفزيونية أهمها “رجل في عصر العولمة”، “عائلة الحاج متولي”، “الفجالة”، “مذكرات ونيس”، “قطة وبعيد”، “حارة الشوق”. “المحروسة” و”سنبل”. بعد مليون”، وقال عنه الفنان محمد صبحي: “وافي كان ضمن “يوميات ونيس” وكان يعطي العمل حقه وكان يضحكني بفكاهيته أثناء التصوير لدرجة التكرار” الكواليس أكثر من مرة.“.
ووصف ممدوح بأنه مخلص ومخلص، وذلك لمدى حبه وارتباطه بالفهد الأسود الفنان الراحل أحمد زكي. وعندما علم بمرضه كان يبكي حزنا عليه، وكان يرافقه دائما في المستشفى ولا يتركه، حتى تفاجأ بإصابته بسرطان في الجهاز الهضمي وطلب دفنه بجواره لأنه حتى في الموت أراد أن يكون بجانبه.
