شهدت محافظة المنيا عددا من مشروعات مياه الشرب والصرف الصحي، ضمن مبادرة الحياة الكريمة التي أطلقها رئيس الجمهورية لتنمية الريف المصري، والذي يضم 192 قرية و757 قرية، بتكلفة 30 مليار جنيه.
ومن المشروعات العملاقة التي تم تنفيذها محطة صرف جبل الطير بمركز سمالوط بمحافظة المنيا. أقيمت محطة صرف جبل الطير على مساحة 5 أفدنة وتبلغ تكلفتها الإجمالية 160 مليون جنيه. وهي محطة معالجة مزدوجة، وتم تخصيص مساحة 470 فدان لها، وتبلغ كفاءتها 7500 متر مكعب يوميا. ويستفيد منه 75 ألف نسمة، ويخدم 4 قرى، بالإضافة إلى القرى التابعة، وهي قرى بني خالد، وجبل الطير البحرية، وجبل الطير القبلية، والصريرة.
شهدت محافظة المنيا طفرة كبيرة من خلال مشروعات المياه والصرف الصحي التي تم تنفيذها ومن بينها ما يجري تنفيذه محطة رفع الصرف الصحي بدرمان ومحطة معالجة بدرمان بالمنيا بطاقة 6000 م3/يوم وتقدر تكلفتها بتكلفة نحو 110 ملايين جنيه، ويخدم نحو 10 آلاف مواطن، فضلاً عن المحطة. أبو قرقاص للمياه والشبكات.
