انخفض مؤشر الثقة في اقتصادات منطقة اليورو للشهر السادس على التوالي، إذ تعاني المنطقة من وطأة ارتفاع أسعار الفائدة واستمرار ارتفاع التضخم والتوترات الجيوسياسية.
وانخفض مؤشر الثقة الذي نشرته المفوضية الأوروبية إلى 93.3 نقطة في أكتوبر، من 93.4 المنقحة في الشهر السابق. وكان الاقتصاديون يتوقعون انخفاضا أكبر.
وجاء الانخفاض العام نتيجة تراجع المؤشر الفرعي لكل من قطاعي الصناعة وتجارة التجزئة، في حين شهد قطاع الخدمات ارتفاعا طفيفا.
تواجه منطقة اليورو شتاءً قاسياً. وربما يكون الاقتصاد قد استقر دون نمو أو حتى انكمش في الربع الثالث بسبب الآثار التراكمية للزيادات المتعاقبة في أسعار الفائدة. انكمش الاقتصاد في ألمانيا والنمسا وأيرلندا خلال هذه الفترة.
وكانت بيانات أسعار المستهلك أكثر إيجابية في الآونة الأخيرة، على الرغم من أن قراءة التضخم في منطقة اليورو لشهر أكتوبر البالغة 3.1٪ – المقرر صدورها يوم الثلاثاء – لا تزال بعيدة عن هدف البنك المركزي الأوروبي البالغ 2٪.
