The Housing and Utilities Committee of the House of Representatives, headed by Dr. Mohamed Attia Al-Fayoumi, approved in principle the draft law on the unified national real estate number. The committee asked the government to provide it with some information and statistics related to real estate wealth in Egypt.
Representative Attia Al-Fayoumi, Chairman of the Committee, confirmed, during today’s committee meeting, that the draft law aims to determine the size of real estate wealth in Egypt, as well as specifying a national number for each property, pointing out that it can be added to a person’s national ID card so that his place of residence can be easily identified, saying: “The unified national real estate number includes every real estate, vacant land, or building, with the aim of facilitating the inventory of these properties and reducing cases of tampering and interference that occur in some cases.”
Al-Fayoumi explained that we are facing a real problem, which is the lack of a real inventory of real estate in Egypt in terms of size, shape, or structural condition, stressing that the draft law on the unified national real estate number will contribute to inventorying closed residential apartments, which will contribute to the file of old rents, and that the committee will conduct A number of amendments to the draft unified national real estate tax law during the upcoming committee meetings.
According to the draft law on the unified national real estate number, a national electronic database for real estate will be established, consisting of a unified number for each property, non-duplicable, that distinguishes it from others, and linked to the codes of the unified base map of the Arab Republic of Egypt from within the secured environment of the spatial information infrastructure system, provided that it is Viewing the non-retirement technical image of the base map, through the secured environment of the aforementioned system affiliated with the competent authority, and a decision shall be issued by the Prime Minister specifying the entity in which the database is created, and its operating system.
