حذرت الأمم المتحدة وشركاؤها من أن أكثر من نصف سكان اليمن بحاجة إلى الخدمات الإنسانية وخدمات الحماية، وكرروا الدعوة لدعم خطة الاستجابة الإنسانية في البلاد.
ونقلا عن العاملين في المجال الإنساني، قال المتحدث باسم الأمم المتحدة، ستيفان دوجاريك، في المؤتمر الصحفي اليومي، إن أكثر من 18 مليون يمني بحاجة إلى هذه المساعدات. وكان مكتب الأمم المتحدة لتنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية وشركاؤه قد أطلقوا الأسبوع الماضي استعراضا للاحتياجات الإنسانية للعام الحالي وخطة الاستجابة لليمن التي يسعون من خلالها إلى جمع حوالي 2.7 مليار دولار لدعم 11 مليون شخص في جميع أنحاء البلاد.
وقال مكتب تنسيق الشؤون الإنسانية إن حوالي 12.4 مليون شخص يفتقرون إلى الوصول الكافي إلى مياه الشرب الآمنة، مما يزيد من خطر الإصابة بالأمراض المعدية، في حين لا يزال أكثر من 4.5 مليون طفل خارج المدرسة ويفتقدون الفرص التعليمية. وقال ستيفان دوجاريك إن اليمن يعاني من “أحد أعلى معدلات سوء التغذية المسجلة على الإطلاق”.
ولدعم برامج أكثر استدامة والتحول عن الاعتماد على المساعدات، ستركز خطة الاستجابة الإنسانية لعام 2024 على التعاون مع الشركاء التنمويين لدعم سبل العيش والخدمات الأساسية والظروف الاقتصادية والحلول طويلة الأجل.
