هيتي جرين..أكثر امرأة بخيلة في التاريخ تقدر ثروتها بأكثر من 2.3 مليار دولار ولدت هيتي جرين في أمريكا عام 1835. وكانت الابنة الوحيدة لرجل أعمال ثري.
ورثت عن والدها ثروة تقدر بـ 7.5 مليون دولار. وعندما بلغت الحادية والعشرين من عمرها، انتقلت للعيش في نيويورك لتستثمر أموالها في وول ستريت، ولُقبت بساحرة وول ستريت الشريرة.
تزوجت من مليونير مثلها، لكنها ما زالت تعيش على بقايا الكعك والبسكويت المكسور في محلات البقالة وتطالب بالحصول على عظمة مجانية لكلبها كل يوم!! كانت هيتي جرين امرأة بائسة للغاية. قامت بخياطة الملابس الداخلية وعمرها 16 سنة ولم تغيرها أو تشتري غيرها حتى يوم وفاتها.
لم تنفق فلسًا قط، فقيل إنها لم تستخدم الماء الساخن أبدًا، وأنها ارتدت ثوبًا أسود لم تغيره حتى اهترئ تمامًا، وأنها عاشت على أكل فطيرة ثمنها سنتان فقط.
تسببت هيتي في بتر ساق ابنها لأنه عندما كسرها تأخرت في علاجها لأنها أصرت على عدم القيام بذلك، ولم تنفق أي أموال وظلت تبحث عن رعاية طبية مجانية.
توفيت هيتي غرين عام 1916 عن عمر يناهز 81 عامًا في مدينة نيويورك، ودخلت موسوعة غينيس للأرقام القياسية باعتبارها “أكثر شخص بخيلة في العالم”.
وكان سبب وفاتها سكتة دماغية بسبب مشاجرة مع خادمتها لأن الخادمة طلبت زيادة في راتبها الضئيل.
ماتت وتركت وراءها ثروة ضخمة ولم يرث أبناؤها بخلها الشديد بل كانوا كرماء لدرجة أن ابنتها قامت ببناء مستشفى مجاني بأموالها !!
