رصد صباح اليوم السبت 24 أغسطس 2024 إنتشار البقع الشمسية وهي علامة على قوة الدورة الشمسية 25 ، وأن أرقام البقع عند أعلى مستوى لها منذ 20 عاماً للشهر الثاني على التوالي.
القيمة الحالية حوالي 230 وهي تتجاوز ماحدث في سبتمبر 2001 خلال ذروة الدورة الشمسية 23 القديمة. لم يكن من المفترض أن تكون الدورة الحالية (الدورة الشمسية 25) بهذه القوة، وقد تصبح أقوى مع اقترابها من ذروة نشاطها.
كل هذه المؤشرات تؤكد بأن النشاط الشمسي القوي قد بدأ للتو وقد يستمر لمدة سنتين إلى ثلاثة سنوات أخرى.
تشير توقعات صادرة عن لجنة من وكالة ناسا و وكالة نوا بأن بالدورة الشمسية 25 قد ستصل إلى حدها الأقصى في يوليو 2025، ومع ذلك ، فإن التوافق الأفضل للبيانات الحالية يُظهر أن الدورة الشمسية 25 يمكن ان تبلغ ذروتها في أكتوبر 2024 بحوالي 8 أشهر من توقعات الفريق.
