أدانت جمهورية مصر العربية بأشد العبارات التصريحات الصادرة عن وزير الأمن القومي الإسرائيلي بشأن التخطيط لإقامة كنيس يهودي داخل المسجد الأقصى.
حمّلت جمهورية مصر العربية إسرائيل المسئولية القانونية عن الالتزام بالوضع القائم في المسجد الأقصى، وعدم المساس بالمقدسات الإسلامية والمسيحية، مطالبة بامتثالها لالتزاماتها كقوة قائمة بالاحتلال، ووقف التصريحات الاستفزازية التي تهدف إلى مزيد من التصعيد والتوتر في المنطقة.
أكدت مصر على أن تلك التصريحات غير المسئولة في حق المقدسات الإسلامية والمسيحية بالأراضي الفلسطينية تزيد الوضع في الأراضى الفلسطينية تعقيداً واحتقاناً، وتعيق الجهود المبذولة للتوصل إلى التهدئة ووقف إطلاق النار فى قطاع غزة، وتشكل خطراً كبيراً على مستقبل التسوية النهائية للقضية الفلسطينية القائم على أساس حل الدولتين، وإقامة الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة على حدود ٤ يونيو ١٩٦٧ وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية.
