انتخبت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة 15 عضوًا جديدًا للانضمام إلى مجلس حقوق الإنسان، وتبدأ مدة ولايته ثلاث سنوات في 1 يناير 2024. وهم: ألبانيا، البرازيل، بلغاريا، بوروندي، الصين، كوت ديفوار، كوبا، الدومينيكان. الجمهورية، فرنسا، غانا، إندونيسيا، اليابان، الكويت، ملاوي، وهولندا.
ووفقا لمركز الأمم المتحدة للإعلام، يتم توزيع مقاعد المجلس على المناطق الإقليمية لضمان التوزيع الجغرافي العادل، حيث تم تخصيص 13 مقعدا لأفريقيا، و13 مقعدا لآسيا والمحيط الهادئ، و6 مقاعد لأوروبا الشرقية، و8 مقاعد لأمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي، و7 مقاعد. إلى أوروبا الغربية.
