أكبر مدن كندا تواجه ارتفاعاً حاداً لـ"جرائم الكراهية"
أعلنت السلطات الكندية يوم الجمعة أن عدد “جرائم الكراهية المعادية للسامية والمسلمين” في تورونتو، أكبر مدينة في البلاد، ارتفع بشكل حاد منذ بدء الهجوم الإسرائيلي على قطاع غزة.
وقال رئيس شرطة تورونتو، مايرون ديمشيو، إنه تم الإبلاغ عن 78 جريمة كراهية في الفترة ما بين 7 أكتوبر/تشرين الأول و20 نوفمبر/تشرين الثاني، مقارنة بـ 37 جريمة في الفترة نفسها من عام 2022. وأضاف: “الرقم الحقيقي أعلى بلا شك، لأن بعض الناس يترددون في تقديم التقارير. ” .
وأشار إلى أن “عدد جرائم الكراهية المعادية للسامية المبلغ عنها خلال تلك الفترة ارتفع إلى ثلاثة أضعاف تقريبا، حيث وصل إلى 38 خلال الفترة ما بين 7 أكتوبر و20 نوفمبر، مقارنة بـ 13 في نفس الفترة من العام الماضي، في حين أن عدد الجرائم قفز استهداف السكان المسلمين.” الفلسطينيون والعرب إلى 17، مقابل جريمة واحدة فقط العام الماضي.

وأضاف ديمكيو: “لا يمكن لجرائم الكراهية أن تصيب الضحايا بالصدمة فحسب، بل جميع أفراد المجتمع المستهدف وخارجه”.
