أبو الهول وماهى حكايتة
يعدّ تمثال أبو #الهول من أكبر التماثيل في العالم، حيث يبلغ طوله 73 متراً، أمّا عرضه فيصل إلى 19 متراً، ويتميز بجسد #أسد ورأس #إنسان، ويزيّن رأسه بغطاء الرأس الملكي، وهو تمثال منحوت من قطعة واحدة من الحجر #الجيري، ووفقا لبعض التقديرات فقد استغرق بناؤه حوالي ثلاث سنوات بواسطة 100 عامل باستخدام المطارق الحجرية والأزاميل النحاسية، ويرجّح معظم علماء التاريخ أنّ أبو الهول ينتمي إلى السلالة الحاكمة الرابعة الذي أضافه خفرى، ومع ذلك يعتقد البعض أنّه بني من قِبل شقيق خفرع الأكبر دجيدف رع (Djedefre)، لإحياء #ذكرى والدهم خوفو، ويشير هؤلاء العلماء أنّ وجه أبو الهول الأكبر يحمل تشابهاً أكثر لخفري، ممّا أشاع بأنّ خوفو نفسه هو من بنى التمثال.
