صرح السيد القصير،وزير الزراعة واستصلاح الأراضي،أنه لا يوجد دولة بالعالم لديها اكتفاء ذاتي في كل المحاصيل، لافتا أن كل دولة تنتج ما تتميز به.وأشار القصير، في كلمته أمام مجلس الأعمال الكندى المصري، إلى محدودية الارض الزراعية في مصر والتي تبلغ حوالي 10 مليون فدان فقط ونصيب الفرد تتضاءل حتى أصبح قراطين فقط، مؤكدا ان الدولة بذلت جهود كبيرة في مجال التوسع الأفقي من خلال استصلاح الصحراء وكذلك التوسع الرأسي لزيادة الإنتاجية من وحدتي الأرض والمياه وكذلك التوسع في إنشاء الصوب الزراعية التي تضاعف الإنتاج وترشد المياه.وأكمل: الدولة في عهد الرئيس السيسي أنفقت المليارات على المشروعات الزراعية القومية الكبرى لدعم منظومة الامن الغذائي، موضحا أن 90% من القطاع الزراعي يمتلكه القطاع الخاص ودور الوزارة الدعم الفنى والمساندة والارشاد وكذلك استنباط الأصناف والتقاوى عالية الجودة والإنتاجية.
