شهدت مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي موجة من الانتقادات عقب تداول أنباء تشير إلى أن مصر ستتحمل نفقات مشاركة الفارس نائل نصار، صهر الملياردير الأمريكي بيل غيتس، في أولمبياد باريس 2024.
وانتقد مستخدمون فكرة تحمل الدولة لتكاليف سفر وإقامة نصار وفريقه المرافق في ظل التحديات الاقتصادية التي تواجهها مصر.
وفي رد سريع على هذه الانتقادات، أصدر الاتحاد المصري للفروسية بياناً رسمياً يوم الأحد، أكد فيه أن نائل نصار، الذي سيشارك في الأولمبياد ممثلاً لمصر، سيسافر على نفقته الخاصة.
وأوضح البيان أن نصار وجميع أفراد فريقه، بما في ذلك زوجته جينيفر غيتس، سينتقلون مباشرة من الولايات المتحدة إلى باريس دون تحميل الدولة أي أعباء مالية.
