تمكن فريق طبي متخصص في جراحة المخ والأعصاب بمستشفى الملك فهد المركزي بتجمع جازان الصحي من استئصال ورم سحائي معقد من قاع الجمجمة لمريضة تبلغ من العمر 53 عاماً، تسبب في فقدان بصرها لمدة سنة بسبب ضغط الورم على الأعصاب البصرية.
وفي التفاصيل ذكر قائد الفريق الطبي بأن المريضة حضرت للمستشفى وكانت تعاني من فقدان البصر نتيجة الضغط الناتج عن الورم ؛ وبعد إجراء الفحوصات اللازمة، تبين وجود ورم سحائي ضاغط بشدة على الأعصاب البصرية ، مما يستدعي التدخل الطبي العاجل لتجنب أي مضاعفات إضافية.
وأضاف بأن الفريق الطبي قرّر إجراء عملية استئصال كلي للورم السحائي باستخدام المنظار الجراحي لضمان سلامة جميع الأجزاء الداخلية للمخ، مع استئصال كلي للورم الملتصق بشدة مع الأعصاب البصرية وذلك تحت المجهر العملياتي ؛ وفي عملية استمرت قرابة السبع ساعات تكللت ولله الحمد بالنجاح واستعادت المريضة بصرها دون أي مضاعفات ؛ وتماثلت للشفاء وغادرت المستشفى بصحة جيدة.
