توافد المئات من المواطنين على مكاتب الشهر العقاري والتوثيق بمناطق مصر الجديدة والنزهة والمرج بالقاهرة، حيث اصطفوا أمام الشهر العقاري لإصدار توكيلات للرئيس عبد الله فتاح السيسي، لتقديمها إلى الهيئة الوطنية للانتخابات ضمن أوراق الترشيح للانتخابات الرئاسية، حيث تعتبر التصديقات الرئاسية شرطا أساسيا لأهلية مرشح الرئاسة لخوض الانتخابات الرئاسية.
ويتضمن القانون الحصول على 25 ألف تصديقًا من خلال وكالات التسجيل العقاري، على أن تكون من 15 محافظة، وبحد أدنى 1000 تظهيرة في كل محافظة. وحدد القانون رقم 22 لسنة 2014 بتنظيم إجراءات الانتخابات الرئاسية في مادته الأولى الشروط الواجب توافرها في المرشح لمنصب الرئاسة، حيث نص على أن يتم انتخاب رئيس الجمهورية بالاقتراع السري العام المباشر من الناخبين المقيدة أسماؤهم في الانتخابات الرئاسية. قاعدة بيانات الناخبين، وعلى كل ناخب أن يمارس هذا الحق بنفسه.
ويكون تأييد المواطنين الذين لهم حق التصويت للراغبين في الترشح لرئاسة الجمهورية على النموذج الذي تعده الهيئة الوطنية للانتخابات. ويجب أن تتضمن الاستمارة، على وجه الخصوص، البيانات التي تثبت هوية طالب الترشح، وهوية المواطن الذي يدعمه، ورقم بطاقة التعريف الوطنية، ومحل الإقامة، وإقرار بعدم تأييده من قبل مُرَشَّح. نفسه أو غيره، ويلتزم بمعرفة أحد مكاتب التوثيق بمصلحة التسجيل العقاري والتوثيق أو قلم الكاتب بالمحاكم الجزئية، أو أي جهة أخرى تعينها الهيئة الوطنية للانتخابات، وكل ذلك وفق مع الضوابط التي يحددها.
