ويتوقع البنك الدولي أن ينمو الاقتصاد المصري بنسبة 4.2% بنهاية العام الجاري، وبنسبة 3.7% في العام المالي 2024، وبنسبة 4% في العام المالي 2025. وشدد البنك على السيطرة على الأوضاع المالية، وتعبئة التدفقات الأجنبية، وتمكين الاقتصاد المصري. القطاع الخاص، وتوفير الحماية الاجتماعية للفقراء هي السبل لتحقيق ذلك. وأشار البنك إلى أن الاحتياطيات النقدية الرسمية لمصر والأصول الأخرى بالعملة الأجنبية زادت تدريجيا في الأشهر الأخيرة، لتصل إلى مبلغ إجمالي قدره 42.9 مليار دولار أمريكي في نهاية أغسطس 2023. وقال البنك إن نتائج ميزان المدفوعات تشير إلى تحسن إيرادات السياحة والسويس، بالإضافة إلى تحسن الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر، وهو ما ساهم في زيادة احتياطيات النقد الأجنبي. وقال البنك إن الحكومة المصرية نجحت في تحصيل إيرادات من مبيعات الأصول بقيمة 2.5 مليار دولار أمريكي خلال عام 2023، لكن تحدي نقص العملة الصعبة لا يزال قائما. وعلى مستوى المنطقة الشرقية في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا، توقع خبراء اقتصاديون في البنك الدولي تباطؤ معدل النمو إلى 1.9% عام 2023 بعد نمو بنسبة 6% عام 2022. وأشار الخبراء إلى أن الاقتصادات المصدرة للنفط ستشهد أكبر نمو التباطؤ في عام 2023، وخاصة دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي.
