وقالت الدكتورة عايدة عطية مقرر فرع المجلس القومي للمرأة بالشرقية، إن فعاليات حملة طرق الأبواب ستستمر تحت عنوان “احميها من الختان”، وذلك ضمن جهود اللجنة الوطنية لمكافحة الختان. القضاء على ختان الإناث في قرى المحافظة وقرى الحياة الكريمة. ويأتي ذلك في إطار جهود اللجنة الوطنية للقضاء على ختان الإناث. على ختان الإناث.
وتابعت لـ”اليوم السابع” أن الحملة استهدفت المواطنين في قرى العديد من مراكز المحافظة، بإجمالي 5400 زيارة، استهدفت 27 ألف امرأة ورجل وطفل. وشارك في التوعية الميدانية عضوات وأعضاء فرع المجلس في المحافظة، وميسرو المجلس، ومتطوعات شابات، بالإضافة إلى قيادات دينية من أئمة وكهنة وخطباء وراهبات..
وأشار مقرر الفرع إلى أن الحملة تركز على موضوع مكافحة الختان وإزالة ما ارتبط بفكرة أن إضفاء الطابع الطبي على جريمة الختان يجعلها آمنة، فضلاً عن نشر الوعي بالعقوبات القانونية المفروضة على كل من يمارس الختان، مثل كالأطباء وطاقم التمريض ومقدمي الخدمات الطبية الآخرين..
