أدان كل من الاتحاد الأوروبي وفرنسا وبريطانيا تصريحات وزير المالية الإسرائيلي بتسلئيل سموتريتش، التي أدلى بها خلال حلقة دراسية حول مستقبل قطاع غزة.
وجاءت التصريحات في سياق الحرب المستمرة بين إسرائيل وحركة حماس منذ عشرة أشهر، حيث صرح سموتريتش بأن “ترك سكان قطاع غزة يموتون جوعاً” قد يكون “مبرّراً وأخلاقياً” من أجل إطلاق سراح الأسرى المحتجزين في القطاع.
ووصف الاتحاد الأوروبي تصريحات سموتريتش بأنها “مخزية للغاية”، مشيراً إلى أنه “لا يمكن تبرير تجويع المدنيين حتى الموت”.
وأكد الاتحاد في بيانه أنه يتوقع من الحكومة الإسرائيلية أن تبتعد بشكل واضح عن هذه التصريحات.
