بريطانيا تعلن حظر بيع السجائر للمولودين بعد يناير 2009
أعلنت الحكومة البريطانية يوم الأربعاء أنها ستحظر بيع السجائر لأولئك الذين ولدوا في الأول من كانون الثاني (يناير) 2009 أو بعده.
وأشارت إلى أن السياسة الجديدة تهدف إلى القضاء التام على التدخين بين الشباب بحلول عام 2040.
وكانت صحيفة الغارديان البريطانية قد ذكرت في وقت سابق أن ريشي سوناك يفكر في إدخال بعض الإجراءات لمكافحة التدخين في العالم، والتي من شأنها منع الجيل القادم من شراء السجائر.
وقالت مصادر وايتهول إن رئيس الوزراء كان يبحث في إجراءات مماثلة لتلك التي قدمتها نيوزيلندا في ديسمبر الماضي، والتي تضمنت زيادة مطردة في السن القانوني للتدخين بحيث لا يتم بيع التبغ أبدًا لأي شخص ولد في 1 يناير 2009 أو بعده.
ومن المفهوم أن تعهد قيادة سوناك بفرض غرامة قدرها 10 جنيهات إسترلينية على الأشخاص الذين يتخلفون عن زيارة الطبيب العام أو المستشفى قد يكون مطروحًا أيضًا على الطاولة، على الرغم من أن هذا قد يكون صعبًا من الناحية السياسية.
وأعلن رئيس الوزراء هذه الفكرة خلال حملته الانتخابية صيف 2022، لكن يبدو أنها أسقطتها عندما تولى منصبه الخريف الماضي.
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن سياسة مكافحة التدخين على الطريقة النيوزيلندية تعني أنه سيتم التخلص التدريجي من السجائر بشكل كامل للجيل القادم. وفي عهد رئيسة الوزراء السابقة جاسيندا أرديرن، أصدرت نيوزيلندا أيضًا تشريعًا لتقليل محتوى النيكوتين في منتجات التبغ وإجبارها على بيعها فقط من خلال متاجر التبغ المتخصصة، بدلاً من المتاجر الصغيرة ومحلات السوبر ماركت.
