وصل صاروخ SpaceX القوي Falcon Heavy إلى منصة الإطلاق قبل إطلاقه المخطط له هذا الأسبوع.
أطلقت شركة SpaceX صاروخ Falcon Heavy لإطلاق مجمع 39A في مركز كينيدي للفضاء التابع لناسا يوم الثلاثاء من هذا الأسبوع، وإذا سارت الأمور وفقًا للخطة، فسيطلق الصاروخ مركبة الفضاء Psyche التابعة لناسا نحو كويكب معدني غريب، يسمى أيضًا Psyche، في صباح يوم الخميس 12 أكتوبر، بحسب تقرير فضائي.
لكن الطبيعة الأم قد لا تتعاون مع هذه الخطة: فالتوقعات الحالية تشير إلى أن 20٪ فقط من الطقس سيكون جيدًا بما يكفي للإطلاق يوم الخميس، حسبما قال مسؤولو ناسا في تحديث، ولدى مهمة Psyche فرص إطلاق احتياطية حتى 25 أكتوبر.
سيرسل صاروخ فالكون هيفي Psyche نحو الجسم الذي يحمل نفس الاسم، وهو جسم يبلغ عرضه حوالي 173 ميلاً (280 كيلومترًا) ويقع في حزام الكويكبات الرئيسي بين المريخ والمشتري.
وستصل المركبة الفضائية إلى هدفها في عام 2029، ومن ثم ستقوم بدراسة الكويكب المعدني عن كثب لمدة 26 شهرًا مقبلة على الأقل. يعتقد علماء الفلك أن Psyche قد يكون النواة المكشوفة لكوكب أولي قديم، لذلك يمكن أن تكشف ملاحظات البعثة الكثير عن هذه اللبنات الأساسية للكواكب والأيام الأولى للنظام. الشمسية بشكل عام.
