وأكد البنتاغون أنه يعمل مع الوكالات الحكومية والحلفاء والشركاء لضمان عدم امتداد الحرب إلى الشرق الأوسط الكبير.
وذكرت الوزارة – في بيان على موقعها الإلكتروني، الاثنين: أن “المسؤولين الأميركيين يعملون بشكل وثيق مع القادة الإسرائيليين والشركاء في المنطقة لاستعادة الأمن في المنطقة ويعملون مع جميع المجموعات ذات الصلة لتأمين إطلاق سراح الرهائن”.
مضيفًا أن الحكومة الأمريكية تعمل أيضًا مع جميع أصحاب المصلحة المعنيين من أجل الإخلاء الآمن للمواطنين الأمريكيين من غزة.
وفي سياق منفصل، أوضحت الوزارة أن الجيش الأمريكي اتخذ إجراءات عسكرية حاسمة للدفاع عن القوات الأمريكية التي تعرضت لهجوم من قبل الجماعات المدعومة من إيران في العراق وسوريا.
وأضاف البيان: “إن تورط إيران في هذا الصراع برمته ليس مفاجئا، والولايات المتحدة تشعر بالقلق. لذلك، ستواصل الولايات المتحدة التركيز على منع التصعيد الإقليمي وتوسيع نطاق هذا الصراع”.
وأوضحت الوزارة أن “إيران تزود عملائها بالطائرات بدون طيار والتدريب والأسلحة التي يستخدمونها لمهاجمة القوات الأمريكية، كما تستخدم إيران نفسها الزوارق السريعة لمضايقة الشحن في الخليج الفارسي الحيوي”.
وأفاد البنتاغون أن الولايات المتحدة زادت من موقع قوتها في القيادة المركزية الأمريكية، ولكن يمكنها أيضًا الاعتماد على الحلفاء والشركاء في جميع أنحاء المنطقة، وقد عملت الولايات المتحدة لسنوات على بناء دفاعات جوية وبحرية شبكية في المنطقة.
