وزير الدفاع الأمريكي يعلن عن الحد من زيارات مسئوليه لإسرائيل
أعلن وزير الدفاع الأميركي لويد أوستن الحد من زيارات كبار مسؤولي البنتاغون إلى إسرائيل “حتى إشعار آخر”، على خلفية التصعيد في قطاع غزة.
وذكر بيان لوزير الدفاع، الجمعة، أنه سيُطلب من مسؤولي الوزارة الحصول على إذن خاص للقيام بمثل هذه الزيارات.
ونصح أوستن أعضاء الكونجرس بعدم القيام بزيارات إلى إسرائيل قد تتطلب مساعدة من البنتاغون.
وأكد أوستن أن البنتاغون سيواصل دعم زيارات الرئيس جو بايدن ونائبة الرئيس كامالا هاريس إلى إسرائيل. كما لا تشمل القيود وزير الدفاع نفسه ونائبه ورئيس هيئة الأركان المشتركة وقادة الأجهزة العسكرية.
ويأتي ذلك على خلفية التصعيد بين إسرائيل وحماس في قطاع غزة، والذي استمر منذ 7 أكتوبر الماضي، عندما شنت إسرائيل عملية عسكرية ضد حماس ردا على هجومها واسع النطاق على المدن والمستوطنات المحيطة بقطاع غزة.
