قال سفير الصومال في القاهرة علي عبدي أواري، إن وصول المعدات والوفود العسكرية والقوات المصرية إلى مقديشو هي خطوة مهمة للتعاون الدفاعي بين البلدين.
يأتي ذلك تمهيدًا لمشاركة مصر في قوات حفظ السلام التابعة للاتحاد الإفريقي في الصومال (AUSSOM)، والتي من المقرر أن تحل محل بعثة الاتحاد الإفريقي الانتقالية الحالية في الصومال (ATMIS) بحلول يناير 2025.
هذه الخطوة الهامة، تعد أولى الخطوات العملية؛ لتنفيذ مخرجات القمة المصرية الصومالية، التي عقدت بالقاهرة مؤخرًا بين الدكتور حسن شيخ محمود رئيس جمهورية الصومال الفيدرالية والرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي رئيس جمهورية مصر العربية، والتي شهدت توقيع اتفاق دفاعي مشترك بين مصر والصومال.
