قائد اليونيفيل: قلق عميق إزاء الوضع بجنوب لبنان.. ويحذر من اعتداءات أوسع نطاقا
أعرب رئيس بعثة قوة الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان (اليونيفيل) وقائدها العام اللواء أرولدو لازارو، عن قلقهما العميق إزاء الوضع في جنوب لبنان واحتمال وقوع أعمال عدائية أوسع نطاقا وأكثر خطورة.
جاء ذلك في تصريح عقب لقاءين عقدهما في بيروت مع رئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري ورئيس حكومة تصريف الأعمال نجيب ميقاتي، قبيل مشاورات مجلس الأمن الدولي حول القرار 1701 الصادر عام 2006 والمقررة في 22 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر المقبل.
وقال لاثارو إن أولويات اليونيفيل الآن هي منع التصعيد وحماية أرواح المدنيين وضمان سلامة وأمن قوات حفظ السلام التي تحاول تحقيق ذلك.
واعتبر أن القرار رقم 1701 يواجه تحديا في الوقت الحاضر، موضحا أن مبادئه المتعلقة بالأمن والاستقرار والتوصل إلى حل طويل الأمد لا تزال سارية.
وشدد على أن الدور المحايد لليونيفيل يبقى مهماً جداً لإيصال رسائل حاسمة للحد من التوترات ومنع سوء الفهم الخطير. لتجنب أي تصعيد غير مبرر.
وأضاف أنه شكر الرئيس بري والرئيس ميقاتي على جهودهما لاستعادة الاستقرار خلال هذه الأيام الحرجة، بما في ذلك من خلال القنوات الدبلوماسية، وكذلك على الثقة التي وضعاها في آليات الاتصال التي تقوم بها اليونيفيل لتجنب المزيد من التصعيد.
